Trailer for the new Nightmare on Elm Street

Michael Bay is at it again with his trend of Hollywood blockbuster remakes attempting to hit cinematic gold with a remake of the classic horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Oddly enough, instead of a Halloween release, the film is due to come out on April 30th which should leave it competing more or less alone in the theatre at least.

However, what should be interesting to see about the film is if it is able to boost the careers of its two main stars: Jackie Earle Hayley from the Fox series Human Target and Rooney Mara. These two starlets will take on the major roles of Freddy Krueger and Nancy Thompson leaving them with large shoes to fill. ,

Of course, there are different motivations for both stars. While Jackie Earle Hayley has already proven himself well enough to even win the blessing of former Kruegar star Robert Englund, for Mara, the role is more about proving her place in the celebrity world. It may work out in her favor however as inclusion in The Transformers helped launch Megan Fox into the celebrity A list world, so long as Mara gets enough screen time.

Hayley on the other hand has large shoes to fill, as pretty much everyone remembers the maniacal iconic performance of Englund as Freddy turning the character into somebody that most people love to laugh at while also hating at the same time. Only time will tell, but judging by the action packed trailer Hayley plans to give it his best shot.
