Colin Ferrell new movie Ondine, trailer

The trailer for ‘Ondine’ is beautifully constructed with enough action, romance, and suspense to make you curious to see what the new Colin Farrell film will turn out.

However, the Neil Jordan directed film (noted for his direction of The Brave One and Interview with the Vampire) falls short once you take a quick read through the whimsical and tired plot.

The basic plot line reads of a sailor that is a loner who does not keep in touch with his ex wife and has a poor relationship with his daughter who is wheelchair ridden.  However, as fate would have it everything switches one day when he catches, so to speak, Ondine, (Alicia Bachleda) a woman who claims to be from the sea.

Ondine preaches her folklore throughout the family gradually brightening their lives and changing Syracuse (Colin Ferrell) and his daughter Annie’s life.

Filmed in Ireland and featuring an original score by the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, the main theme of the movie appears to be if Syracuse is able to hang onto his new found love or not.  Well, that and the debate over whether Ondine is real or a myth come true.

It would be heartless to reveal how the romance turns out, given that this is the only lure of the movie, although the film has been coined as a sweet movie that is refreshing amidst the more generic plotlines currently in production.

If the movie can live up to the trailer it will be well worth viewing. Backed by Magnolia Pictures you can decide for yourself on June 4^th when it is released in theaters.
