Can Matt Damon’s Green Zone escape the Iraq war movie box office curse‘Green Zone’ is expected to be a blockbuster hit due to the fact that it comes with plenty of star power such as Paul Greengrass the director of the ‘Bourne saga’ and Matt Damon.  Of course, even more enticing are the action packed trailers jammed full of fighting, suspense, and firepower.

Although it appears that ‘Green Zone’ could be another ‘Bourne’ movie, it also has a unique recipe that has so far brought other films to their knees in box office performance- a plot centered around the Iraq war.

The movie is actually set in Baghdad in the first few weeks that America arrived and is a dramatized movie version of the desperate search for weapons of mass destruction, with an ending that centers around the first time that Iraq insurgency is experienced.

While it may seem that the film sets out to glorify the war, it makes it clear that it aims to do anything but glorify the war with pointed political commentary that the war was in fact a huge scam and poorly executed.

The movie was filmed in England, Morocco, and Spain in 2008 with the score and editing completed about six months ago.  Even with the time period that has passed, Universal Studios is still nervous about getting back its large multi-million dollar investment out of the feeling that the war is still too close at hand for conspiracy theories to be accepted.

Studio executives stated that there is no exact way to judge when the best time to release the film would be, but added that the more time they were able to sit on it the better its release would go.
